The drawing office publishes the way it already does, without a separate export or an extra licence. At the workstation and on the tablet on site, the model and the 2D drawing appear together straight away, linked to each other according to the logic of Vertex BD itself.

Drawing in Vertex BD

The drawing office works in Vertex BD the way it always has: walls, floors and roofs, with the profiles and panels that go with them later on.

Publishing

One publication from the project is enough. No separate export and no second workflow to learn.

If a dimension is missing, you take it yourself from the model. If something changes during production, the floor follows along.

THE NATIVE FLOW

One publication, no separate workflow

Vertex BD is the CAD package of the timber frame construction, prefab and light steel framing sector in Flanders and Belgium. The drawing office designs and details walls, floors and roofs there, often with a CNC line that is driven directly from it. Field-Viewer connects to exactly that process, without adding an extra step anywhere between the drawing office and the floor.

Publish your project the way you already do, and the model and the 2D drawings appear together in Field-Viewer straight away, linked according to the logic of Vertex BD itself. Tap a wall or panel in the model, and the matching production drawing appears alongside it. It works the other way round too: start from the drawing, and you find the element back in the model.

What a Vertex BD viewer does and does not do on the floor

No overblown promises, just an honest picture of what already works today and what Field-Viewer is not.

What already works today

  • Publishing works the same way as today: no new step, no extra licence or export added.
  • Model and 2D drawing appear together in Field-Viewer, linked: tap a wall or panel and the matching production drawing appears, and the other way round.
  • Workstation views per production step, and taking a dimension yourself without calling the drawing office.

What not to expect from it

  • Field-Viewer is not a modelling tool: you view, measure and mark up, you do not change the model yourself.
  • Not the only way to view a Vertex BD model. Vertex Systems already offers its own free Vertex Viewer for redlining on Windows. The difference here lies in working through the browser without installation, the link with the drawing, and the combination with files from other packages on the same screen.

CONCRETE EXAMPLE

A panel that is just not quite right, spotted before it is cut

An operator at the saw station is unsure about a profile length on a wall panel. Instead of calling the drawing office, he taps the panel in the model and the matching production drawing appears alongside it, with the dimension that matters at that moment.

If the drawing office has meanwhile changed a detail, he sees that difference straight away, before the saw blade ever comes into it. Nobody carries on working from a drawing that has quietly become out of date.

Frequently asked questions about Vertex BD

Does Field-Viewer work with our own Vertex BD library?

Yes. Field-Viewer shows the project exactly as it comes out of Vertex BD, including your own profiles, names and cutting lists. No separate setting or extra library is needed.

What happens if the drawing office changes something after the project has already been published?

A publication reaches everyone connected to the project at that moment, with no intermediate step: there is nothing to fetch or download. What you see on your screen is the current version, even if it was only updated a few minutes earlier.

Does every operator on the floor need their own Vertex BD licence?

No. Field-Viewer opens the publication directly, without a Vertex BD licence needing to be installed on the workstation or the tablet. Only the drawing office itself works in Vertex BD.
