At the workstation the screen is simply fixed in place. As soon as you start it up you see the right view for that station, with no hunting through a long file list. While you are sawing or assembling, the right dimensions and the drawing are within reach.

The pdf at the workbench

A pdf of the drawing hangs at the workbench. It never has everything on it. If a dimension is missing, someone puts the work down and walks over to the draughtsman, or rings the office. Meanwhile the work stands still.

Just ask the draughtsman

The CAD package is only at the office, and only the draughtsman can get into it. For every small question they have to break off their own work, while you wait on site for an answer. On a busy day those interruptions pile up, and then everyone runs late.

Only spotted after installation

The panel does not fit, or the pipe sits in the wrong place. The mistake only comes to light once the work is done. Then come the rework, the lost time and a bill nobody budgeted for.

Sound familiar? It does not have to stay that way. Field-Viewer puts the model and the drawings together in the workshop, so you can see for yourself what you are building.

Model and drawings, together on one screen

Your model and the matching 2D drawings sit side by side in Field-Viewer, intelligently linked. That link follows the logic of your CAD package: tap a wall in the model, and the right drawing is there beside it. It works the other way round too: tap an element in the drawing, and you see it back in the model straight away.

There is no separate pdf lagging behind reality any more. As soon as the drawing office publishes a new version, that version is on the floor as well, with no reprint and no round of emails.

The pdf of the drawing hangs at the workbench, and that one dimension is just not on it. Normally you walk over to the draughtsman, or reach for the phone and wait until someone has time to open the file. Meanwhile the work stands still.

Field-Viewer takes that dimension out of the model, right where the work happens. You measure it yourself, on the spot, in ten seconds. Want every dimension on screen at once? One tap, and the automatic dimensioning is there, with no manual drafting and no transcription errors.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work without internet on site?

Yes. Field-Viewer works offline: you view the model and take measurements without a connection. As soon as there is wifi or 4G again, everything syncs to the drawing office automatically.

What device do I need?

A tablet and a browser are enough, Field-Viewer runs without installation. If you work in dust, rain or at height, choose a rugged device with a good protective case, as you probably already do for other equipment on site.

We draw in Vertex BD. What does the drawing office have to do?

Nothing extra. Publishing the project the way you already do is enough. No extra licence and no separate export are needed.

Do you work with other packages, or with IFC?

Yes. With Vertex BD the smart link between model and drawing is at its strongest, because Field-Viewer connects to it directly. Alongside that, Field-Viewer also opens files from Revit, ArchiCAD, IFC and pdf, so that material sits next to your model just as easily.

Does my team need training?

No. The interface is deliberately simple: whoever opens the model gets it straight away. No course and no manual needed.

What does it cost?

Field-Viewer is in a pilot phase today. We agree the price together, to suit your project or site. Request a demo and we will work out what a fair proposal looks like.

About Field-Viewer

Field-Viewer is an independent initiative from Flanders, Belgium, in pilot phase. It is built around one frustration: the pdf at the workbench that never has everything on it. The model exists, it is drawn and it is correct, it just sits in a CAD package at the office instead of with the people who have to build it.

This autumn we are looking for five pilot companies in Flanders, workshops and sites, to build Field-Viewer further together. We ask two things of a pilot: a real project instead of a test file, and honest feedback about what works on the floor and what does not. What you get back: the viewer on your own model, short lines to the people building it, and a price we agree together.

You will not find a name, a face or a company here. That is a choice: for now we work without a name in public, and we will introduce ourselves once the first pilots are running.
