There are plenty of 3D viewers that were drawn first and foremost for a screen at the office, with a mouse and a manual next to it. Field-Viewer was not. This page shows how the controls, the link to your 2D drawings and measuring a dimension yourself work, exactly as they are meant to: in the workshop and on site.
Many 3D viewers were drawn first and foremost for someone with a mouse: small icons, a tree full of paths, a tooltip that only appears on a hover that simply does not exist on a tablet. Put an interface like that on a screen with work gloves on, and you jab three times before you hit the right button.
Field-Viewer turns that logic around. The controls start from a finger in a glove, not from a mouse pointer, and from a screen that has to stay readable in full sun or in a dim corner of the hall.
A 3D model shows shape and position, but on the floor the actual work often still turns on the 2D drawing: a dimension line, a detail, a connection that is not explicitly marked in the model. Most viewers make you choose between one or the other, and then you switch back and forth yourself between a tablet and a loose A3 sheet.
In Field-Viewer, model and drawing belong together, not just open side by side by chance. Tap an element in the model, and the matching 2D drawing appears next to it. If you would rather start from the drawing, the viewer finds that same element back in the model. If a detail comes from a supplier or from another package that is not natively linked, you simply put it next to the model, in the format it arrived in.
A dimension missing from the drawing is still the moment the work stops: someone walks over to the draughtsman, or reaches for the phone and waits until there is time to open the file. Most viewers do have a measuring function somewhere, but hidden behind a settings menu, with units and snap options that make sense to a draughtsman and mostly cost time to someone on the floor.
That way you measure it yourself, on the spot, in a few seconds. No phone call, no waiting around for the rest of the team.

In one tap the viewer generates every relevant dimension line automatically. Hide a layer, the finishes for example, and those dimensions adjust to what is still visible. On the home page you already see that combination in an interactive demo; here it works the same way on your own project.
Every workstation or profile can have its own fixed view: the camera position, the active layers and the buttons that matter most, loaded automatically at start-up. An operator at the saw station needs different reflexes from an installer on site, so the button bar adapts instead of forcing the same menu on everyone.
The viewer takes its model straight from the publication out of the CAD package, not from a pdf that was emailed round three weeks ago. If something changes, the screen changes with it, at every station at once.
In a basement or on a remote site a stable connection is not a given. Viewing, measuring and noting a remark all work without a network, and as soon as there is wifi or 4G again, everything syncs by itself.
Someone who only has to build does not need to see the whole project with every discipline in it. Assign a role per user or per project, and a subcontractor views and measures what is meant for them, while making changes stays with the people allowed to. Spotted a mistake in the model yourself? You report it from the screen to the drawing office, linked to the part it concerns.

Large, high-contrast buttons and generous tap zones, so you operate the screen with your work gloves on.
